Manchester United linked to three Alex Telles left-back alternatives

The media are linking Manchester United with three different left-backs if they’re unsuccessful in their bid to sign FC Porto’s Alex Telles.

Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has suggested that the club are tracking AS Monaco’s Fode Ballo-Toure.

The 23-year-old defender was snapped up by PSG as a teenager before leaving for Lille in search of more first-team opportunities. Two years later he joined Monaco, with Lille making significant profit on the sale.

The Sun claim that another option considered is Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico, with the Eredivisie champions setting an asking price in the region of £23m.

De Telegraaf claims the left-back has received a fresh deal from DoF Marc Overmars.

The Argentine moved to the Dutch capital in 2018 following a transfer from Independiente.

That brings us to the third alternative that has been named in the press.

According to Manchester Evening News, United are also monitoring Vitaliy Mykolenko of Dynamo Kyiv.

There are so many names doing the rounds that it’s hard to know what to believe. One thing is certain and that is United’s pursuit for Telles is heating up as the Telegraph claims he is determined to join the Red Devils this summer but both sides are still haggling over a possible transfer fee.

Luke Shaw needs competition and Brandon Williams needs more time.
