Report: Man Utd closing in on Alex Telles transfer with personal terms agreed

Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with FC Porto to sign left-back Alex Telles, according to reports in Portugal.

Speculation surrounding United’s interest in Telles has intensified in recent days after the humbling opening day Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace further highlighted the requirement to bolster defensive options.

And if reports in Portugal are to be believed, United are finally closing on their second signing of the summer after Donny van de Beek.

According to Correio da Manha, Telles has already agreed personal terms with United including a five-year-deal.

It is claimed the Brazilian full-back could earn €4m-per-year if he completes a switch to Old Trafford, but an agreement between the two clubs is still yet to be finalised.

Despite the report suggesting a deal is very close for United, it is also noted that Serie A champions Juventus have also registered an interest in Telles.

A left-back, centre-back and right-winger should all be prioritised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as positions to strengthen before the October 5 transfer deadline.

And Telles, 27, would certainly bolster one key area of weakness in the squad.

Telles is an exciting attacking full-back with an impressive ability to create chances in the final third.

His arrival would allow Solskjaer the flexibility to set-up in a dangerous three-at-the-back system with Telles pressing high and Luke Shaw slotting in at left centre-back where he performed so well last season.

These reports from Portugal regarding Telles are encouraging but we will keep you up to date with more concrete information surrounding the defender’s future in the coming days.
