Leeds United set to make second attempt to bring Man United’s Dan James to Elland Road

Leeds United are reportedly set to make their second attempt in as many seasons to bring Welsh winger Daniel James to Elland Road after his time in Manchester continues to disappoint.

James, 22, joined United last summer from Championship side Swansea in a move which cost the Reds £15.3m as per TransferMarkt however, after failing to impress at Old Trafford the Welshman could be set for a move away after just 14-months.

The pacey winger started life at United with a bang after a debut goal against domestic rivals Chelsea sealed a stunning 4-0 opening day win.

However, despite James’ promising start he has since fallen out-of-favour with both the United coaching staff and the fans. The Welshman has featured a total of 47 times in all competitions for the Reds and has just 11 goal contributions to his name.

According to a recent report from The Sun James has fallen down manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order after being substituted at half-time in the Reds’ crushing 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace yesterday.

The report claims that Leeds’ gaffer Marcelo Bielsa who has been a long-term admirer of James after trying to bring him to Elland Road in January 2019 before the deal famously collapsed on deadline day as shown in Amazon’s Take Us Home: Leeds United documentary.

It is believed that Bielsa’s Leeds United are planning on making a £12m plus add-ons move for the United winger although a potential loan move cannot be ruled out.

It has been claimed that Bielsa would like to add James who possesses some serious pace to Leeds United’s quick-fire attacking line.
