Manchester United interested in Valencia star Uros Racic

Valencia’s Uros Racic entourage claims Manchester United have shown interest in signing the defender, according to reputable journalist Hector Gomez.

While it’s encouraging to see United linked with players, it is frustrating that we don’t see many targets go beyond the stage of interest.

United have made just one signing this summer, with Donny van de Beek joining in a £35m deal from Ajax, as per BBC Sport.

The Sun claims Racic has a £92m release clause in his contract.

But with Valencia struggling with a financial crisis, the player could be available to United in a cut price deal.

Signing another midfield may not be a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer but it would do no harm to add more depth to an important area of the team.

United’s interest has been brought to light by Hector Gomez, who tweeted the following transfer update this morning, which backs up claims made by The Sun last night: “Racic’s environment confirms interest from @ManUtd_Es on the player but NOT the 30 million offer. Let’s see if there really is a final offer or if it only remains in interest.”

The 22-year-old is renowned for his defensive power and mobility and could be seen as a potential signing to takeover Nemanja Matic’s role in midfield.

After struggling to settle in Valencia after joining from Red Star, Racic enjoyed loan spells with Famalicao in Portugal and Spanish outfit Tenerife.

Being interested in a player means nothing unless an offer is made. We’ll keep an eye out for updates on Racic but there’s still nothing to suggest United will make a bid in this transfer window.
