Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has gifted rivals Manchester United the perfect oppotuntity to sign Bayern Munich elite midfielder Thiago Alcantara after Marko Grujić’s agent claims Klopp wants to retain him for the 2020-21 season.

Grujic, 24, has spent the last two seasons on loan with German side Hertha Berlin where he has made 54 appearances in all competitions and been directly involved in 12 goals.

However, the Serbian midfielder will not be permitted to spend a third season away from Anfield after his agent Fali Ramadani claims that Liverpool wish to recall him to their first-team plans signalling the 2019-20 Premier League champions could have given up on their pursuit of Thiago.

Speaking to Kicker as quoted by Express, Ramadani said: “Liverpool want to keep him. That could change in January at the earliest.”

Ramadani’s comments come in light of Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß recently claiming that he believes the club’s star-midfielder Thiago has already agreed a deal with either Liverpool or United, as per Sport.de (via Sports Witness).

According to The Guardian Bayern Munich’s 29-year-old Spaniard is available for a move away from the Allianz Arena for as little as £27.5m.

With just three weeks left in the summer’s transfer window, the race for Thiago appears to hotting up as United move into pole position to land the world-class playmaker.
