Man United to consider Burnley’s Dwight McNeil despite letting him go as a youngster

Manchester United are reportedly interested in resigning Burnley wide-man Dwight McNeil who is valued at £50m should they fail to make a break-through in talks for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

McNeil, 20, was released from the Red’s youth academy back in 2014 which resulted in him joining The Claret’s youth ranks instead.

As the talented Englishman rose through Burnley’s ranks he has since gone on to become one of the most underrated midfielders in England’s top-flight.

The young midfielder who mainly operates on the left side of a midfield four featured 38 times in all competitions last season for Sean Dyche’s side and managed to be directly involved in eight goals.

According to a recent report from Lancs Live Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering making a summer swoop for the midfielder should talks between number-one target Sancho’s representatives fail to develop.

United are understood to still be pursuing Sancho but are struggling to finalise his agent’s fees, according to Sky Sports News’ James Cooper.

Lancs Live’s report claims that Sean Dyche would consider allowing McNeil to depart Turf Moor should a bid within the region of £50m come in for him.
