Donny van de Beek woke up this morning a Manchester United player.
It’s a great feeling as a fan to have our first deal of the summer across the line. Patience was wearing thin and it didn’t help that Jadon Sancho was the only player being constantly linked with the club, yet no progress has been made on that front in weeks…
People were beginning to lose hope and then a deal was quickly conducted to take Van de Beek from Ajax to United.
He is more experienced than most 23-year-olds in football but Van de Beek is still developing and may take time to adjust his game fully to English football.
This morning he responded to all the messages he received from United fans last night following the big transfer announcement, saying: “Very excited to be the newest edition of the #MUFC family. 🔴 Your enthusiastic responses to my announcement make me feel at home already! Can’t wait to join the team in Manchester.
“But first… focus on the Dutch Squad in preparation for the upcoming Nations League matches. 🦁”

Hopefully this is a sign for things to come because the squad needs more investment. I suspect two or three players go leave in the next two weeks, maybe a loan or two for some young players including James Garner, but we need to sign a centre-back.
Perhaps Van de Beek can have a word with Matthijs de Ligt?
