Manchester United announced earlier this evening via ManUtd.com that they have completed the signing of talented midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax in a transfer reportedly worth €39m plus €5m in add-ons, as per Sky Sports.
van de Beek, 23, will join the Reds in time for the start of the new 2020-21 season after putting pen-to-paper and signing a five-year deal, as per Sky Sports.
The club have announced that their new signing will officially wear the number 34 shirt.
van de Beek’s new number has great significance and is a tribute to best friend and former team-mate Appie Nouri.
Nouri collapsed during a match in the summer of 2017 and tragically fell into a coma which resulted in life-changing injuries meaning he would never be able to play football again.
During his short playing career Nouri wore the number 34 shirt at Ajax which van de Beek will now take-on at his new club United.
