United not out of race for Havertz as club grow increasingly frustrated with Sancho deal

Manchester United are believed to be far from out of the race to sign German wonderkid Kai Havertz as frustrations grow with how long negotiations are taking in a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Havertz, 21, looks certain to have played his last game for Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen after his side crashed out of the Europa League after losing 2-1 to Inter Milan earlier this week.

The youngster has been the subject of much speculation that he could be on the verge of joining Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, however, according to recent reports by Manchester Evening News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United are not out of the race for his signature yet.

It is understood that United’s attentions could turn back to Havertz as the club grow increasingly frustrated by the pace in which negotiations for number-one target Jadon Sancho are progressing with Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sky Sports, the cause for United’s frustration is down to Dortmund’s insistence to use a third-party intermediary which is believed to be slowing the proposed deal’s pace down.

It is believed that Havertz could still opt for United as he would only consider joining a club who are in the illustrious Champions League.

These recent reports acknowledge that should United up their interest in the German sensation, given his bumper value, he would be an alternative to Sancho as opposed to a team-mate.
