French youngster at Man United could leave in search of first team football

Manchester United youngster Aliou Traore admits he might leave the club in search of first team football, while speaking to RMC Sport.

Even with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer building his team around youth and making use of United’s academy, the 19-year-old Frenchman has little chance of becoming a starter at Old Trafford any time soon.

Following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes a number of midfielders fell down the pecking order. Just look at Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard. Moreover, Paul Pogba’s return from injury saw Fred and Scott McTominay’s game time become a lot more limited. This goes to show the competition for places at the moment and we like to think another quality midfielder will be signed this summer.

The midfield now is arguably the best we’ve had since the days of Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick.

But do United want to lose a young player who Nicky Butt previously described as a ‘tremendously gifted’ footballer, as per the Manchester Evening News, although he has not been included in a single first team squad by Solskjaer this season. That does not suggest he’s part of the manager’s plans.

“I would like to start as a pro,” said Traore. “I only have one year of contract left so yes, I’m not closing the door. But if I’m leaving, it’s for a professional group.

“I will be listening to opportunities. Above all, I want to be part of a project that has meaning for me, a coherent project for the rest of my career.”

According to France Football in June, SPL rivals Celtic and Rangers have shown an interest in signing Traore.
