Barcelona interested in signing Man Utd star who has fallen out of favour with Solskjaer

Barcelona are reportedly interesting in a move for forgotten Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot this summer.

Dalot made just one Premier League start for United this season, and was overlooked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Project Restart.

The Portuguese youth international failed to impress in his solitary start after lockdown, looking rusty in United’s FA Cup quarter-final against Norwich.

And Solskjaer preferred to select Timothy Fosu-Mensah at left-back ahead of Dalot when Luke Shaw was injured towards the end of campaign.

The inclusion of Fosu-Mensah will have come as a bitter blow to Dalot, who will surely be contemplating his future at Old Trafford after a frustrating season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has cemented his place as United’s first choice right-back and academy prospect Ethan Laird is expected to make the step up and compete for a first-team place next season.

And according to ESPN, Barcelona are one of the teams that have shown an interest in Dalot.

It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old is identified as a player Solskjaer wants to move on in the summer given the youngster still has so much potential and arrived just two seasons ago.

But the fact that he now appears to be third-choice in both full-back positions will surely be concerning and we wouldn’t be surprised if he seeks a move elsewhere.
