Report: French side Sochaux reject Manchester United’s €1m bid for young defender

Reports in France suggest Sochaux are in the process of rejecting their first offer for 15-year-old defender Willy Kambwala.

According to RMC Sport, Manchester United’s proposal was worth less than €1m but Sochaux won’t entertain any offers unless they are double what the Red Devils are said to have proposed.

The report carefully states that Kambwala does not want to appear as though he is going against the club that developed him, by forcing a move, though he is said to be aware of United’s interest.

With two years remaining on his youth contract, the France U-16 international has time on his side and shouldn’t feel the need to rush into any move right now. But it’s still very hard to say no to Manchester United, if their reported interest is genuine…

There is definitely room at United for better defensive players and Kambwala is also known to have played in a defensive midfield role.

Kambwala is thought to be close to first-team football and United may be trying to snap him up now before he attracts interest from every club in Europe.
