Manchester United fans generally dislike Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine was signed in 2014 for a then club record transfer worth £59.7m from Real Madrid.
Life at Old Trafford started off brightly for the midfielder, however, he didn’t settle properly and the BBC claim his home in Cheshire was subject to an attempted burglary.
His subsequent performances dipped in quality and it didn’t take fans long to realise he wasn’t the right investment for the team. For much of his time at the club, which lasted just one season, Di Maria didn’t look interested and his sheer disrespect became clear after leaving the club.
That’s why a number of United fans will refer to Di Maria as a snake. 🐍
When I saw this video this morning I couldn’t help but share it. The fan in question opens a wardrobe and flicks through a selection of United shirts but keep an eye out for the venomous snake…
OMG just found a snake in my wardrobe 😳 pic.twitter.com/sdqCtsbEA0

The reason I take issue with Di Maria because he did not try hard enough to become part of the club’s fabric after a big money move. He arrived fresh off a successful Champions League campaign with Real Madrid and hardly justified the perception he created about him.
Some fans will put that down to Louis van Gaal but you can’t ignore the stats. Di Maria was painted as a superstar when he joined United. He returned 4 goals and 12 assists in his first season. That’s not a bad tally for assists, but THREE GOALS?
And when PSG beat United in the first leg of their Champions League tie last season, Di Maria celebrated wildly. His girlfriend also made some bizarre comments about Manchester lately.
It’s clear he doesn’t like us and the feelings are mutual.
