Liverpool pay touching tribute to Rashford over school meals campaign

Marcus Rashford has received deserved praise for his pivotal role in persuading the Government to u-turn on their original stance to not provide disadvantaged children with meals throughout summer.

Prime Minster Boris Johnson has bowed to pressure from Rashford and agreed to release £120m to provide free meals for children in need throughout the UK during the summer holidays, as per the Financial Times.

Stepping slightly away from from Johnson, though, Liverpool have put bitter club rivalries to one side to pay a touching tribute to Rashford following his success campaign.

Not so long ago, the England forward scored a brace against Liverpool to earn all three points in a fixture that took place at Old Trafford prior to the pandemic.

Now Liverpool have praised Rashy for his remarkable efforts in being a role model both on and off the pitch.

LFC wrote in their tweet: “Children in our region will benefit because of the actions of this remarkable role model.

“From Liverpool with love.”

There will be many football fans in disadvantage situations and we should all take note that hunger doesn’t wear club colours.

What Rashford is doing is helping society.

He’s an incredible man for a 22-year-old. They nail it calling him a role model!
