Raheem Sterling appears to have emerged as a shock transfer target for Manchester United this summer.
Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho is thought to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
But according to the reputable Miguel Delaney of the Independent, the Manchester City forward is now high up in United’s transfer plans after being followed by closely by the club’s analytics department.
It is suggested that United’s interest is seen as a reflection of the uncertainty around his future if City’s two year Champions League ban is upheld.
While United would make a move if he became available, Real Madrid is still seen as the most likely destination if the England international was to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Sterling is one of the Premier League’s elite wingers and has had a fantastic goal scoring record over the past few seasons. But in the multiple fixtures against the Reds this term, he has been comfortably dealt with by the imperious Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Moreover, transfers from City to United or vice versa seldom materialise, particularly for someone who has already played for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old is also most effective from the left-forward position, which Solskjaer’s talisman Marcus Rashford has made his own this season.
We wouldn’t expect Sterling to do a Carlos Tevez and join his cross-city rivals anytime soon.

Raheem was a a United fan growing up. Sad he ended up playing solely for our two rivals.

Hopefully yes. He’s a united fan, and I’ve no doubt it’ll be dream come true.
