Podcast: 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay, Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal | Classic matches

Welcome to another episode of the Strettycast — the Manchester United podcast.

This week I am joined by Mike, who is a familiar voice on the podcast, to reflect on the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay between Manchester United and Arsenal.

We talk about incidents in the game that stood out and the differences we see with football today (not coronavirus, but playing styles and the way in which teams pressed as opposed to what we see now). Sir Alex Ferguson made changes before the game which we considered risky — but United came out on top as Ryan Giggs revealed his hairy chest to the world following a wayward pass from Patrick Vieira which we’ll never let the Frenchman forget.

We also take a look at some relevant stories concerning United.

Jadon Sancho looks set to leave Borussia Dortmund with United leading the race for his signature.

Mike watches Serie A regularly so he helps us rubbish recent reports that United are going back in for Diego Godin this summer.
