Why three Man Utd youngsters weren’t in training ahead of Club Brugge tie

Manchester United trio James Garner, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong did not take part in first-team training on Wednesday morning ahead of the Europa League clash against Club Brugge.

The talented youngsters were notable absentees as United trained in front of the media before flying out to Belgium on Wednesday afternoon.

But as reported by Manchester Evening News, Gomes, Chong and Garner had already flown out to Belgium earlier in the day ahead of an U19 friendly against Club Brugge.

It’s appearing less and less likely that Chong and Gomes will remain at Old Trafford next season.

The pair’s contracts both run out this summer and they have struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in this campaign.

Garner, however, is expected to have his long-term future at the club with his current contract expiring in 2022.

Meanwhile, Odion Ighalo and Bruno Fernandes could make their European debuts for the Reds on Thursday evening.

United’s game against the Belgian outfit kicks off at 5:55pm, and will be shown live on BT Sport 2.
