Man United’s £60m-rated striker target ‘dreaming of Old Trafford move’

Manchester United’s priority in the summer transfer window must be to sign a prolific striker.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been left to rue not replacing Romelu Lukaku who has scored 17 Serie A goals for Inter Milan this season.

The problem was not allowing the Belgian, who did not fit Solskjaer’s style of play, to leave the club, but rather not signing a player who could offset his consistent goal tallies.

United fans are also growing more and more frustrated at missing out on Erling Haaland; the Norwegian has carried on his remarkable goal blitz at Borussia Dortmund.

But the decision to avoid working with an agent in Mino Raiola who continues to undermine the club could be beneficial in the long-term.

While options are limited, there are still forwards that Solskjaer can target that would strengthen the Reds next season.

One man that has been mentioned as a possible target is Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

The Daily Star reported last week that United chiefs have been given the ‘green light’ to complete a move for the French forward for around £60m.

And the latest update from Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol is that Dembele is dreaming of completing a transfer to Old Trafford.

Solhekol’s report claims that Lyon will let their star striker go this summer and United are one of a number of clubs interested in his signature.

Dembele has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season and has thrived in France after spells at Celtic and Fulham.

If the 23-year-old is seriously keen on a transfer to United, then this is a deal Solskjaer should consider completing.

The Frenchman is at the perfect age for Solskjaer’s rebuild and his desire to play for the club could make him an immediate fan favourite.

We’ve seen previously that the United boss is keen on bringing in players who clearly want to play for the club, like Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo.

And Dembele is a natural finisher who could provide a different dimension to the Reds’ attack. He could offer a focal point up front and would feed off crosses from the likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford with his excellent aerial ability.
