Confirmed Man Utd XI to face Chelsea: Bailly and Fernandes start, Ighalo on bench

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his Manchester United starting eleven for this evening’s crucial clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds currently sit ninth in the Premier League, but can move within three points from tonight’s opponents with an away victory.

Solskjaer has set up with a similar five-at-the-back formation to the team that defeated Chelsea in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Eric Bailly makes his first Manchester United start of the season alongside Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in central defence.

Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will fill the wing back roles this evening.

Meanwhile, Fred and Nemanja Matic continue their partnership in a double midfield pivot, with Bruno Fernandes appearing to be playing his second game for the club in a number 10 role.

Odion Ighalo starts his first United game on the bench, after integrating with his new teammates for the first time at Carrington on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Nigerian missed Solskjaer’s squad’s warm weather training camp in Marbella this week over concerns of being let back into the country amid coronavirus fears.

But Ighalo could make his debut for the club he has supported since he was a boy as a substitute against Frank Lampard’s side.
