Man Utd half-time stat: First time scoring five first half goals since 2001

An incredible stat has emerged at half-time as Manchester United lead Tranmere Rovers 5-0 in the FA Cup fourth round.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made easy work of today’s opposition with goals from Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial.

It’s been the first solid display we’ve seen from the team in some time, and the fans are still on the terrace singing anti-Glazer and Ed Woodward chants, the way it should be!

According to Opta, United have scored five goals in the first half for the first time since February 2001, when we beat rivals Arsenal 6-1.

Current manager Solskjaer scored the fifth goal that day.

Solskjaer will urge his players to continue their goalscoring spree after the break.

The Tranmere defence has struggled to cope with United’s quality in attack.

There has been changes at half-time with Tahith Chong and Fred replacing Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic. A wise call from the boss with big games coming up with several players needing a rest.
