Loads of Man Utd fans discuss links to Benfica midfielder, several make Pogba comparisons

With or without Scott McTominay available, Manchester United need to step up their search for a new central midfielder. The Scotland international could face 8-weeks on the sidelines with a fresh injury but all season we’ve been crying out for better midfield players to accompany him and maybe Paul Pogba, if the latter can get back to match fitness.

McTominay has been one of our better players this term, playing 21 times across all competitions and sporting three goals while providing a further three assists.

But with him ruled out of action for the time being, Sky Sports claim Man Utd are interested in signing Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.

The report claims that he is one of a number of targets for the Red Devils in the upcoming January transfer window, and that his entourage have been in the UK trying to broker a loan deal with a £34m option to buy at the end of the season.

After seeing the link to the 20-year-old Portuguese midfielder, United fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on their supposed transfer target.
