Sky Sports pundit believes Man Utd should sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez

Sky Sports pundit Danny Murphy thinks Manchester United should sign Wolves striker Raul Jimenez in the January transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to bring in reinforcements this winter if United are to compete for a finish in the Champions League places.

The Reds have been linked with a number of forwards already, with RB Salzburg forward Erling Haaland said to be of high interest at Old Trafford.

According to Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer met Haaland’s representatives on Friday with United stepping up their interest in the 19-year-old wonderkid.

Haaland has scored 24 goals already for his Austrian League side already this season.

But Murphy believes Raul Jimenez is the type of player United should be targeting in the January transfer window.

“Wolves fans won’t like it but he (Jimenez) is a quality player. He’s that type you’re talking about,” the former Liverpool midfield said on Sky Sports’ debate, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

“I agree, centre-forward is very important and if Rashford was injured or James was injured, [Anthony] Martial can play wide if they had another striker.”

The 28-year-old Mexican would provide competition in the United frontline and provide Solskjaer a different option in attack. But signing him in January seems unrealistic given Wolves have no reason to sell one of their prized assets as they fight for European qualification for the second season running.

Jimenez scored 13 goals in his first season in the Premier League and has six so far in this campaign.
