Marcus Rashford and Gary Neville in classy gesture to help cancer surviving Man Utd fan attend first match

Marcus Rashford and Gary Neville have done their bit to ensure a cancer survivor and lifelong Manchester United fan could attend his first match at Old Trafford.

The England striker sorted match tickets for the stage three cancer survivor to watch United host Brighton next month, while Neville has organised a hotel room for him to stay in as he travels from America to Manchester.

It all happened when Rashford answered a tweet from Matt Waymont, who asked for help getting match tickets for his mate John after a group of friends raised enough money to fly him to the UK.

Matt’s tweet read: “My legendary USA friend, John, has beaten stage 3 cancer! He’s a lifelong @ManUtd fan but has never been to England or Old Trafford.

“We raised enough ££ to get him to UK but need help getting him to a match! Man U vs Brighton is our aim!”

The tweet, as seen above, included a picture of John with his United shirt — with Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba all tagged.

Rashford was first to respond and helped make the request reality — replying to the tweet last month saying he would sort the tickets.

The 21-year-old then went a step further, tweeting United legend Neville for help sorting a hotel room.

Neville, who owns Hotel Football which overlooks Old Trafford, was quick to respond with a tweet confirming that everything was ‘sorted’.

It’s great to see current and former players come together to make a fan’s dream come true.

Credit to Rashford and Neville as we hope to see more of this in the future.
