Dimitar Berbatov reveals favourite goal he scored for Manchester United

Dimitar Berbatov has revealed his bicycle-kick against Liverpool was his favourite goal for Manchester United.

It was an incredible effort from the Bulgarian, and remains one of the most memorable goals for United fans in recent times.

Berbatov was electric for the Reds that day, scoring a hat-trick to defeat Liverpool at Old Trafford on the way to their 19th league title.

Known for his class and elegance in a Red shirt, Berbatov had some unforgettable moments during his four-year spell at United, but this one couldn’t be topped.

The striker controlled Nani’s cross on his knee, before hitting what he describes as a ‘half scissor-kick’ onto the underside of the crossbar past a helpless Pepe Reina.

Speaking to the United app, Berbatov said:

“The first one that comes to mind is the Liverpool scissor-kick, or the half scissor-kick as I call it. That was a good one.

“People don’t realise how difficult this kind of goal is, and the fact that it went in off the crossbar.. that just makes it cool.”

Berbatov was coolness personified at United, and netted 48 times in 108 appearances for the Reds.

What we’d do to have a player of his ilk playing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer right now…
