Reported Man Utd target secures £37m Ligue 1 transfer

Rumoured Manchester United target Wissam Ben Yedder has left Sevilla to sign for Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.

Ben Yedder had an excellent season last time out, scoring 18 times and contributing nine assists as he attracted reported interested from several top European clubs.

According to Goal, the 29-year-old has now completed a £37m move to Leonardo Jardim’s side, and could act as a replacement for ex-United striker Radamel Falcao who could be heading for the exit door.

It had been suggested that the Reds would make a move for the Frenchman, a proven goalscorer, when the future of Romelu Lukaku was eventually resolved.

Lukaku got his deadline day switch to Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan, but United failed to bring in another attacking option.

La Colina de Nervion had reported that United had agreed personal terms with the striker, but no move materialised.

Ben Yedder could have been a useful signing for the Reds to compliment Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack, and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at Monaco.

For now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to settle with what he has in attack, and will hope that Rashford and Martial can continue to deliver the goals along with the likes of Jesse Lingard and teenage sensation Mason Greenwood.
