Man Utd move is a ‘sideways step’ for Maguire, says talkSPORT pundit

The transfer saga involving Harry Maguire and Manchester United appears to be at its final stages after an £85m transfer fee was agreed between the Red Devils and Leicester City.

Maguire will become the most expensive defender in history when the deal is officially announced, but talkSPORT pundit Adrian Durham isn’t feeling the hype.

Whether you rate his views on football or not, get a load of this rubbish: “Given where Leicester were, where they finished last season and the transfer window they’ve had, if Harry Maguire does choose to go to Manchester United it’s a sideways step.

“Who knows what’s going to happen from now onwards, but that to me is a sideway step because Leicester could have achieved what United achieved. Not in terms of the size of the club, but in terms of what they’re at. It’s a sideways step and I stand by that.”

Good man, Durham. You stand by that utterly ridiculous comment.

He’s trying to say United’s downfall on the pitch is enough to claim Leicester are as big of a club now, or more attractive.

And moving from Leicester City to Old Trafford is quite obviously a step up.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished 14 points above the Foxes last season, who finished 9th and missed out on a place in the Europa League.

They made a good signing this summer with Youri Tielemans from AS Monaco, a player I thought United should have tried to sign.

I wonder does Durham think Tielemans would have picked Leicester over United? Hmm.
