Man Utd ‘still likely’ to complete £80m signing, claims journalist

Manchester United’s pursuit of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has turned out to be one of the transfer sagas of the summer.

The Reds have still failed to reach a deal for the 26-year-old, with now just a week to go until the transfer window slams shut.

However, there is still some optimism that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will still get his man. Respected journalist Sam Pilger has provided an update on the move, saying it is still highly likely that a deal will eventually happen.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett claims £80m, a world record transfer fee for a defender, would be the ‘magic number’ to finally prize the Englishman away from the Foxes.

Moreover, he adds that this fee may be paid by United which would mean the deal could be completed quite quickly.

It is believed Maguire has made it clear that he wants a move to Old Trafford in this window, and is to miss Leicester’s friendly with Atalanta today amid continued speculation over his future.

Solskjaer desperately needs a centre-back to be brought in to partner Victor Lindelof in defence so let’s hope he can get his man with time now running out before the window closes.
