Norwich star signs new deal amid reported Man Utd interest

Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey has signed a new deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until 2023.

Godfrey was excellent for the Canaries last season, helping them reach the Premier League as Championship winners.

His performances had earned interest from top Premier League clubs; the Sun reported last month that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was tracking the 21-year-old.

It will be interesting to see if Godfrey can live up to his potential and excel in the Premier League next season, as clubs will still undoubtedly monitor the young defender.

Meanwhile, it is crucial United get a deal for a centre-back over the line this summer; preferably an established top-class defender. Harry Maguire has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford but the Reds should not overpay for the Leicester City centre-back.

Solskjaer can’t afford to be repeatedly relying on the likes of Phil Jones in defence next season.
