Man Utd hope deal for Portuguese ace could be done next week

However, Fernandes is currently on international duty so United will need to get their act together if they wish to get a deal over the line anytime soon.

Manchester Evening News add that no offer has been made yet, but the parties involved could be setting this up so that an offer can be agreed upon before one is officially made.

Fernandes has also been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, as per Bleacher Report, after enjoying an incredible 2018-19 for the Lisbon outfit.

Speaking with Record(h/t James Westwood of Goal), Fernandes said while he’s not been in discussions with any potential suitors yet, a transfer shouldn’t be ruled out:

“I’m with Sporting. There are no contracts with any club, at least as far as I know. There is a lot of talk, there are sure to be clubs interested but to this day, my focus has always been placed on Sporting. Now I want to rest because I have a lot to give the national team.

“I’ve spent two intense years, I don’t know if I will spend a third year, I don’t know if I’m going to leave. No one knows the future.”

Diogo Dalot on Cristiano Ronaldo

In other others concerning our Portuguese friends, Diogo Dalot reveals why he loves Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview with SoccerBible magazine (h/t Manchester Evening News).

“My answer will be a little bit shocking for everyone,” Dalot joked.

“Ronaldo, for me, was the main one. He was my idol from day one. Not because he’s Portuguese or his style of playing, but for his hard work. When you think of an athlete, a complete athlete, a complete footballer, you need to choose Cristiano.

“For me, he was the main inspiration to start playing football. Not because I want to be like him, I want to take my own path, but to get to know him and see how he works is unbelievable.”
