Blow for Man Utd: Rising Premier League star rules out summer transfer

Manchester United have been linked with Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka throughout the season.

The English full-back has had an incredible season and it came as a huge surprise that he wasn’t mentioned among the PFA young player of the year candidates. Raheem Sterling controversially won the award at 24, when it should really go to a younger player, rather than someone who could win both awards.

Moreover, Wan-Bissaka plays at right-back, meaning signing him would mean we’d see less of Ashley Young.

Wan-Bissaka has given Crystal Palace a huge boost insisting he will be at the club beyond the summer, despite interest from United.

He’s been at the Selhurst Park club since the age of 11 and the club have no plans whatsoever to cash in on him yet.

“The situation just shows that my performances don’t go unnoticed,” Wan-Bissaka told the Standard.

“But I am with Crystal Palace at the moment. That is where my contract is and that is where I will be next season.

“I have got three years left on my contract. It says I am going to be there, so that is all I can focus on now.”

Wan-Bissaka could also be talking to Palace teammate Wilfried Zaha about making that big move too soon in his career, but everything I’ve watched him play this season he has looked the real deal. Not just at right-back — Wan Bissaka also tends to cover other areas at the back, swooping across his line if necessary showing he’s always alert.

Zaha didn’t have a good spell at Old Trafford, so he returned to Palace and now has his career back on track, recognised as one of the Premier League’s biggest threats.

Hopefully, the future of Wan-Bissaka is different and he kicks on after joining a big club. That club obviously being Manchester United.
