Juventus star Joao Cancelo could join Man Utd in €40m transfer as Antonio Valencia’s replacement

Manchester United have been linked with Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo.

Reports in Italy claim his future at Juventus is in the balance.

The Reds are expected to lose Antonio Valencia when his contract expires at the end of the season, and fans have had enough of watching Ashley Young at right-back, so it makes sense for the club to have a look at the market for someone new and better.

And, while Diogo Dalot looks like a good prospect, United don’t seem sold on going into the new season with him as the first choice option at right-back. The Reds are also said to be watching Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Cancelo has become a target for the Reds even though his form of late at Juventus has raised eyebrows for the wrong reason.

The 24-year-old has played his role in another Serie A winning campaign for Juve having made 30 appearances, scoring once and providing eight assists. Though in recent weeks, manager Massimiliano Allegri has shown he’s not afraid to drop players who are out-of-form.

It is suggested that Juve will demand around €40m for Cancelo’s signature – making sure they recoup the money they spent to sign him from La Liga outfit Valencia.

Time will tell but right-back is definitely an area United need to improve ahead of next season.
