Man Utd duo nominated for Premier League player of month award

Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelöf have been shortlisted for January’s Premier League player of the month.

The pair face competition for the award from ex United youth team players Josh King and Tom Heaton, as well as Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Both players have been essential to United’s revival under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, helping maintain the interim boss’ unbeaten start at the club.

Rashford scored 3 league goals in 4 appearances last month, most notably his winner to secure a 1-0 victory away to Tottenham at Wembley. The youngster’s excellent solo finish in a home win against Brighton is also a contender for Premier League Goal of the Month.

Victor Lindelöf has stepped up in defence for United this season, and contributed to clean sheets away to Newcastle and Spurs this month, as well as salvaging a late draw at home to Burnley on Tuesday night.

Lindelöf’s Swedish compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the last United player to win the Player of the Month award in December 2016.

Unsurprisingly, Solskjaer has also been nominated for Manager of the month, after a fantastic start at Old Trafford. The Norwegian is up against Sean Dyche and Ralph Hasenhuttl but is highly likely to become the first United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to win the award.

Reds can vote for their player and manager of choice before 6pm on Monday 4, February.
