Just when you thought things couldn’t go any better for Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Norwegian has been nominated for the Manager of the Month award for January.
Solskjaer is up against fellow candidates Sean Dyche (Burnley) and Ralph Hasenhuttl (Southampton) but is widely tipped as the winner of this month’s award.
It’s an incredible achievement considering this was his first month as manager, and people had been writing him off because of how Cardiff City previously got relegated under him, even though it wasn’t completely his fault with the club in ruins at the time.

Dyche and Hasenhuttl are both fighting to keep their teams out of a relegation battle, whereas Solskjaer has resurrected any belief that United can finish in the top four and we remain unbeaten since he’s come in.
The last United manager to win a MOTM award was Sir Alex Ferguson in October 2012. And, adding a little more flavour to the mix, no Norwegian has ever won the award.
