Manchester United are reportedly set to scout PSV winger Steven Bergwijn ahead of a potential £25million transfer move.
The Netherlands international looks an exciting prospect after his breakthrough in the Eredivisie in recent times, and is now being talked up as catching the attention of both United and Liverpool, according to the Sun.
With nine goals from out wide this season, Bergwijn looks a player who could make an immediate impact at Old Trafford due to the poor form of Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford’s recent move to playing up front.
It remains to be seen how strong Liverpool’s interest is, but the Sun’s report suggests it’s United stepping up their efforts to snap him up.
Of course, United have been here before with Memphis Depay, another player who shone in PSV’s attack before proving a bit of a flop in Manchester.
Still, here’s hoping if Bergwijn joins now he’ll find himself in a better, more stable set-up in which he can continue his development after showing great natural ability early on in his career.
