Jose Mourinho ready to spoil Manchester United’s transfer plans as he prepares for job at new club

Manchester United could be in trouble if Jose Mourinho lands himself the Real Madrid job, according to latest transfer news emerging from Spain.

Having only been sacked by the Red Devils last month, Mourinho already seems set for a big new job as Real Madrid for some reason look ready to take a gamble on him.

Well, that’s not necessarily our problem, but it does seem that the Portuguese wants some United targets to strengthen the squad at the Bernabeu.

According to Don Balon – admittedly not the most reliable source – Mourinho has told Florentino Perez he wants to sign a new centre-back, with Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar and Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt among the names on his list.

Both are among the finest centre-backs in Europe at the moment, so it makes sense that Mourinho would want to work with them, though they’re thrown in with a whole bunch of other big names.

A major overhaul at Madrid is not beyond the realms of possibility, but let’s wait and see if Mourinho actually gets the job before worrying too much.

A recent report from the Express suggested United had received a boost in their pursuit of Skriniar due to his contract situation at the San Siro.

Bleacher Report, meanwhile, recently linked De Ligt as one of the names on our radar.

Either would be a superb addition for us to improve on players like Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, and of course they could do a job at Madrid as well, ushering in a new generation of talents as this squad looks to have past its peak somewhat.
