(Watch) Gundogan fires home to kill hope of a Man Utd comeback

Surely there won’t be a comeback at this stage.

Ilkay Gundogan has won the Manchester derby for Manchester City by scoring the Blues’ third goal of the evening.

The German controls an exquisite ball into the box by Bernardo Silva before slotting home, though the build-up play for the goal contained 44 passes without interruption.

Moments later, City had a call for a penalty when Chris Smalling collided with Leroy Sane inside the box, but the referee waved play on.

Since United grabbed one back through Anthony Martial from the spot, Ederson has not had a bit of work to do which is simply not good enough if we were to have any chance of equalising.

Anyhow, that’s that. Too late for United to grab three goals, let alone two…

We cannot continue to rely on late drama to win games. United must learn how to start games on the front foot or risk dropping more points as the season progresses.

A win today would have put us in a good position going into the Christmas run.
