Man Utd star decides not to sign new Man Utd contract… because of Mourinho

Anthony Martial has reportedly ‘binned’ contract talks with Manchester United for now because of manager Jose Mourinho.

The France international has featured just once so far this season and would have hoped for more time on the pitch. That meant — yet again – that Martial wasn’t called up to the French squad, who last night draw 0-0 with Germany in the new UEFA Nations League tournament.

However, it has been reported by several outlets, including Calciomercato on Thursday, that Martial would consider signing a new contract with United.

This may not be the case. A new report is emerging from The Sun stating that the 22-year-old is reluctant to commit his future to the club while he is not a regular starter and he’s waiting to see what happens with Mourinho.

With two wins from our opening four games, Mourinho is under pressure to get United back on track. There was talk of Zinedine Zidane stepping in which is likely to drag on these coming months unless he takes a job elsewhere.

The Daily Mail claim the French footballing icon that is Zidane wants the United job.

But it doesn’t look like Mourinho is going anywhere at the moment in time. The bond he’s building with the fans, especially after games of late, will make it even more difficult for Ed Woodward to axe him.

Woodward will just need to hope Martial doesn’t become another Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne. No pressure.

So, we’re in a crossfire of two conflicting reports. The Times recently stated that Martial’s view of signing a new contract at United was to outlast Mourinho. Hmm.
