Manchester United recently announced the signing of midfielder Fred from Shaktar Donetsk in a deal worth a potential £52m. Despite this, rumours persist that boss Jose Mourinho is keen to add another midfielder this summer to bolster his options.

According to Italian outlet II Messaggero, Manchester United have begun talks with Lazio over a potential transfer for Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Savic, has been linked with a host of clubs this summer and II Messaggero have stated that United are trying to move quickly in an attempt to get the deal done with Real Madrid also interested in his signature.

Moreover, he has caught the eye of all the big teams in Europe after his impressive season in Serie A. With 14 goals and 9 assists for Lazio, it’s not a surprise really is it?

With the departure of stalwart Michael Carrick, United need to sign some genuine quality in the middle of the park if they are to wrestle the Premier League title back from the clutches of rivals Man City.

Savic has become one of the most complete midfield players in Italy his addition would ease some of the pressure felt by Pogba who struggled for consistency last season.

Noted for his strength in the air and ability to drive the team forward; Savic would give United some much-needed bite in midfield. Get it done Jose!
