Olympique Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas believes Nabil Fekir will still be at the club next season amid speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The forward seemed set to join the Merseyside club ahead of the World Cup, but the transfer fell through at the last hurdle and the French club announced Fekir would be staying.
Still, the speculation has not gone away.
Speaking to RMC Sport, Aulas said he doesn’t expect Fekir to leave during the final weeks of the transfer window.
“I think that Nabil will be at OL next season,” the Lyon president said. “I have almost a father-son relationship with my players. I gave him the chance to go to Liverpool because it was his dream club. I did that too with [Corentin] Tolisso and [Samuel] Umtiti. He is our captain, and it is the coach’s wish to keep him.”
Goal note the move to Liverpool broke down because of a medical with the Premier League and it’s added that Real Madrid could swoop for the Lyon star. He’s been one of the stand-out players in Ligue 1 despite injuries, so it’s no surprise that two of last season’s Champions League finalists are chasing his signature.
Jose Mourinho previously met with Lyon’s president and it was rumoured that they spoke about Fekir.
This is what French football journalist Jeremy Smith said about Fekir’s future.
Aulas on Fekir: "He will be – I think – at Lyon next season."
I still don't believe it. Fekir has said it's time to leave. Aulas kidology IMO.

If the switch is going to happen, it may not be for a while.
