Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly set out to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid this as he obsesses over giving more power to his defence ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
That’s according to Don Balon, the Spanish media outlet claiming Mourinho considers Varane as the best choice to fulfil that role currently occupied by Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. More like Beavis and Butt-Head.
With Eric Bailly hopeful of getting back in the team after being dropped towards the end of last season, Victor Lindelof is having a great World Cup with quarter-finalists Sweden and is deserving of a run in the team.

Still, I’m not putting my nose up to a talent like Varane because they don’t come around very often.
Losing Varane would be a massive blow to new manager Julen Lopetegui and it would probably mean they’d have to go out in search of another defensive partner for Spain international Sergio Ramos, who, despite a great Champions League campaign in which he ruined Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, was abysmal at the World Cup.
The Reds are also being strongly linked with Real Madrid superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. While it would be incredibly difficult to lure one of those away from the Santiago Bernabeu, United’s planned raid on Los Blancos is ongoing. We’re going nowhere.
