Two Chinese clubs place bids to see off Man Utd in race for 24-year-old midfielder

According to OJogo, two Chinese clubs equaled an offer from Manchester United worth €40 million for Benfica attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca, who has also previously been linked with a move to Liverpool.

It is clear that this player is being touted around not only Europe but the entire world and talk of interest in a switch to China is off-putting because it suggests Talisca may well be willing to send his career down the drain for a bigger payday.

The Chinese clubs remain anonymous, but it will say a lot about Talisca’s priorities if he entertains such offers.

I don’t have that view through bitters either. If I’m being totally honest Talisca isn’t a player I have seen enough of to properly evaluate, so to lose out on him to China won’t make the slightest difference to my day-to-day life.

But, come on.

At 23 years of age, why would he put his international career in further jeopardy by moving to China when there’s enough interest in his signature around Europe?

It’s probable that United are being used to draw attention towards the player, as previously seen with Nicolas Gaitan, who funnily enough finds himself playing for Chinese Club Dalian Yifang.

Gaitan spent two years at Atletico Madrid after being continuously linked with a move from Benfica (there’s a surprise – same current club!), which never happened.

Talisca spent last season on loan at Turkish club Besiktas, who probably cannot afford to meet the player’s wage demands in order to make the move permanent.

The above report also suggests Talisca has arranged to meet with his representatives over the coming days to discuss his future.
