New home for United’s U-21s

Manchester United have announced that the majority of U-21 home fixtures will be held at the Salford City Stadium.

The impressive venue, in Barton-upon-Irwill, cost £26 million to build and has a capacity of 12,000. The U-21s played at the ground last season and beat a strong Spurs side 1-0, so Warren Joyce’s team will be looking forward to playing there more often.

They will also look forward to a few outings at Old Trafford – against Fulham on 28 October, Middlesbrough on 20 October and the 24 March encounter with Chelsea.

Altrincham’s Moss Lane, which has been the regular home of the Reserves, will stage the match against Stoke City on 4 November.
