Peter Schmeichel names undroppable player after Manchester United’s win at Fulham

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel hopes he former club can turn their season around after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.  And, after a fifth clean sheet this season, the Dane thinks Harry Maguire is undroppable.

It took a stoppage-time winner from Bruno Fernandes to seal the win, but United were unlucky to have a goal disallowed after 8 minutes.

The performance was well below par (again), yet we are now desperate for wins and most fans won’t care so long as we’re picking up three points. Hopefully, with the additional confidence that comes with every win, the standards on the pitch pick up between now and Christmas.

Bruno Fernandes’ strike in stoppage-time made for scenes in the away end, but the clean sheet was crucial too. It weas our fifth of the season and Harry Maguire was among the best performers on the pitch, despite going down with a head injury in the early stages of the match.

Former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes Maguire, who was probably Man of the Match, should be ‘undroppable’ for Erik ten Hag.

“For me, the Man of the Match was Harry Maguire,” said Schmeichel on Premier League Productions, as quoted by UtdDistrict. “Without him, I don’t see Man United winning this game. He’s become an example to all the players, rising up from adversity – he is undroppable for any manager now.”

With games against Copenhagen and Luton Town this week, United really need to be winning those. No excuses.
