Ruben Amorim will remain in the hot seat for Manchester United for the foreseeable future despite overseeing the club’s worst start to a campaign in 33 years.
The Red Devils fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Manchester City in Sunday’s derby clash at the Etihad, leaving United 14th-placed in the Premier League table with one win, one draw and two losses to their name in the opening four matches.
Dismal Reds pick up where they left off from 24/25

In addition to their lacklustre results, United have scored only one goal from open play in six hours of league football. This comes after the board shelled out £193.8 million to grant Amorim an entirely new frontline, made up of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, albeit the latter was ruled out of Sunday’s contest through injury.
When the side endured such a catastrophic end to 2024/2025 by finishing 15th and losing the Europa League final, the majority of fans were keen to stick with Amorim due to the mess he’d taken over upon Erik ten Hag’s sacking last October.
Additionally, he was working with a crop of players that he had no say in signing, so supporters wanted to see how he’d have his options bolstered throughout his first summer window.
When Sir Jim Racliffe would consider relieving Amorim of his duties
According to Ben Jacobs (via GiveMeSport), co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is of the belief that the current United team is capable of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
Amorim’s job security will ‘be more seriously discussed’ if it looks as though the club will again fall short of the UCL places as the term progresses.
Still, there have been no moves made to start sizing up replacements for a potential vacancy in the Old Trafford dugout, and the former Sporting Lisbon boss retains INEOS’ full backing – for now.

Berada and his team are supposed to be knowledgeable football men. Surely they can not only see the huge mistakes Amorim is making in his selections and substitutions in games, but this system will never work in the Premiership. Bringing on defenders whilst trying to chase a game is not seen as a tactic used by any other manager. Not having a plan B in games, by changing the way we play (yes the system) is just plain stubborness and won’t win games or fans support, but will eventually get Amorim the sack.
We all only hope it is not too late.
Bestietom you have spoken well, this clowns are not ready to sack this bastard call Amorin, he is too stubborn and continue to kill our club, he doesn’t want any one to tell him the right thing he want him alone did it, someone who refuses to take advice fall inside the pit hole, he bought keeper and bench him, also a striker against Arsenal he did the same tin, this man is a failure kick him out, poul schole said this earlier that praising this clueless fool doesn’t make sense he has nothing to offer to us, imagine Europa final he was advice to play a mad and ganachou he refused with his big head good for nothing
Sack Amorim before it will be too late, manchester utd makes this type of mistake under eric ten hag by not making decesion in time to sack him
The general consensus from the media, punters, etc is that we’re playing a bit better than last season. (But still not winning matches.)
I was hoping for rather more than that after all the money spent. Money, incidentally, we were alleged not to have as scores of United employees lost their livelihood.
That statement by Ratcliffe and co shows just how inept the new hierarchy is and has little or no understanding of football nobody in their right mind would think we’d go from 15th to Champions Leaguer qualification in 1 season as all the other contenders have made even more stellar signings making them even stronger
