Manchester United Face £43m Hurdle for Nicolo Tresoldi

Manchester United have been told they will need to find around £43million to sign Nicolo Tresoldi, with Club Brugge naming their asking price for the 22-year-old striker.

According to Bulinews, Brugge have set that valuation on Tresoldi ahead of next week’s transfer deadline, underlining how central he remains to their long-term project. United have reportedly been tracking the German U21 international on a daily basis after being impressed by his performances in the Belgian Pro League.

Brugge standing firm on valuation

AS Roma have already tested Brugge’s resolve and come away empty-handed, having a £29.9million bid rejected for the forward. That knockback tells its own story: the Belgian champions are not for turning easily, and any United move would likely have to clear a similarly high bar.

Manchester United’s interest in Tresoldi was reported in July. Supplementary reporting at the time stated that Brugge regarded the striker as not for sale. The fact a concrete figure has now emerged suggests that position may have softened, even if £43million remains a substantial outlay.

Form and competition

Tresoldi arrived at Jan Breydel Stadium from Hannover 96 last summer and needed no time to adjust, scoring 13 goals in 30 appearances as Brugge won the league title. He has picked up exactly where he left off this term, netting in each of his three league outings so far, including the winner against Cercle Brugge on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Barcelona have all been credited with interest in the Cagliari-born forward, meaning United would face stiff competition even if they matched Brugge’s valuation. It goes without saying that convincing Tresoldi to leave a title-winning side where he is settled and thriving would be its own challenge, separate from any fee negotiation.

United’s priorities elsewhere may complicate matters further, with a central midfielder and a left-back both understood to be higher up the club’s shopping list. Whether the Reds are willing to stretch to £43million for a forward, with just a week of the window remaining, is far from certain.
