Arsenal’s stance has strengthened after Lewis-Skelly’s improved standing towards the end of last season. His late-season revival included a start in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal prefer to retain him despite the possibility of wider squad changes.

United are also hopeful of a deal for Newcastle’s Lewis Hall. The two pursuits are separate, with each presenting different obstacles.
Hall is open to the prospect of a move, according to the report, although completing an agreement would require significant work. United are therefore assessing possible deals involving both Hall and Lewis-Skelly as the summer window develops.
