‘Unplayable’ Man Utd star is already training at another club ahead of imminent January move

Manchester United youngster Sekou Kone is reportedly training at Lausanne-Sport, who could become his new club.

The Malian is a defensive midfielder who started his career in his home country at Guidars’ academy, before being poached by the Premier League giants in the summer of 2024.

Last season, Kone cemented himself as one of the most exciting young players at Carrington, albeit his momentum was hampered by injuries. He has also been described as ‘unplayable’ following his early exploits in midfield.

This season, Kone’s campaign began on a sour note, fracturing his eye socket in his maiden appearance. This incident occurred during a U21 contest between Man Utd and Tamworth.

The unlucky midfielder thus had another spell on the sidelines before resuming action in November. The technical staff have been slowly reintroducing him to the action, so he has only made three appearances for Man Utd U21 this term.

Nevertheless, the club’s officials feel the 19-year-old, despite his tender age, is ready for senior action. Since playing time will be scarce at Old Trafford, the club directors are working on finding him temporary accommodation.

According to Manchester World journalist Rich Fay, Kone has been sent to train at Lausanne-Sport, which could become his home for the next six months.

Lausanne-Sport are owned by INEOS, the same company that owns a minority stake in Man Utd and is in charge of the sporting department.

Therefore, the Swiss club should become a natural haven for young United talents seeking game time and experience at the senior level. Young MUFC striker Enzo Kana-Biyik joined the club on loan at the start of the season.

As for Kone, it remains to be seen if his move will come to fruition. As the source explains, the midfielder isn’t necessarily on trial, but he’s simply on an exploratory period before the parties decide whether or not to proceed with the move.

If the young Malian doesn’t end up sealing a move to Switzerland, Man Utd will be looking to find him another club before the end of the month.
