There is said to be ‘growing tension’ between Ruben Amorim and Manchester United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox.
According to Ben Jacobs, the INEOS chief wants Amorim to be more ‘tactically adaptable’ amid continued turbulent and inconsistent form, with United most recently dropping points to newly-promoted Leeds United earlier this afternoon.
Amorim discouraged by lack of action in winter market
From Amorim’s point of view, he is ‘disappointed’ over the owners’ lack of ambition now that the January window has opened. No major incomings are expected at Old Trafford this month, and he is navigating a depleted squad amid AFCON and injury absences.
Jacobs adds that the Red Devils boss was promised last year that his options would be reinforced mid-season, hence his fresh frustrations that nothing appears to be in the pipeline before the February 2 deadline.

What Amorim had to say post-Leeds draw
After United took just one point from today’s Roses derby, Amorim issued some strong words in his post-match press conference at Elland Road, telling reporters: “I am not going to quit.
“I am going to do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me. I am going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. That is going to finish in 18 months, and then everyone is going to move on. I came here to be the manager.”

The spoils being shared in Yorkshire meant that United once again squandered their opportunity to move fourth-placed in the table before Liverpool, Chelsea and Sunderland were in action at 3pm.
Now 14 months into his Premier League tenure, Amorim has overseen 15 wins, 13 draws and a whopping 19 losses in the 47 games he’s managed.
