Sky: Ruben Amorim willing to reintegrate outcast Man Utd star after issuing stark warning over his role in the squad

Despite being linked with a host of clubs over the last week and engaging in active negotiations over a move elsewhere, there remains a chance that Rasmus Hojlund is reintegrated into Ruben Amorim’s ranks.

Last Sunday, Amorim opted to drop the forward from his matchday squad for Manchester United’s season-opener at home to Arsenal amid expectations the Dane had played his final game in red.

However, if a transfer fails to materialise, he will be restored to the side, unlike his attacking counterpart Alejandro Garnacho, who’s likely to spend half the campaign in the reserves if he doesn’t complete his desired switch to Chelsea.

Hojlund is reluctant to pull the curtains on his United tenure, having only made his dream move to his boyhood club two years ago.

Amorim is well aware of this, hence not closing the door on his return (Sky Sports), but he has made it clear that the 22-year-old would be playing a heavily reduced role in the presence of first-choice frontman Benjamin Sesko.

The fact that United have no European football to account for throughout 2025/2026 means game time will be incredibly hard to come by for any fringe player who doesn’t impress Amorim with the chances they get, not only Hojlund.

Where could Hojlund end up this summer?

On the other hand, if he does depart, it’s thought the Dane has now had a change of heart over where he’ll end up.

AC Milan were leading the race for his signature up until Wednesday, when Napoli stepped up their efforts to sign a striker in the aftermath of Romelu Lukaku’s lengthy injury layoff. Hojlund is considered Antonio Conte’s No.1 candidate to lead his line.

The Serie A champions opened talks with United on Tuesday and, by the following day, had convinced Hojlund to join them over struggling rivals Milan; they, like the Reds, failed to qualify for Europe last season.

  1. United have spent 200M to integrate Amorim into the Manchester United set up. The most merciful act that I have witnessed in the over 65 years that I have followed MU. He should be thankful for that and stop throwing his weight.

    1. Rubbish. Other managers were given way more money and time during their ‘integration’ literally within the past 5 years.

  2. As always there are more than one way to look at this. Is there another manager out there with the potential to implement the radical shake-up United obviously needed. It might not work out with Amorim but I wouldn’t want to bet my house at him not being successful. Given that they’ve supported him thus far I would need to see an outstanding alternative candidate to even consider changing things again.

    1. ETH was supported more than Amorim is his last year when he departed, only he didn’t buy the right players. Amorim has bought only 5 players since arriving.

  3. The fact that Hoiland did not perform happens to all strikers .But having Sesko in the fold also as a striker will bring that competition for both of them which might work out well for both players and increase the ability of United having versatility in the team even though Hoiland plyas second Fidel.
The drastic changes is necessary but also not to think far ahead on not keeping a striker like Rasmus who still has alot the learn like any other striker. The team can only do better when there is harmony and the moral is at a high with everyone on Board

  4. Håber de beholder Højlund og begynder at servicere manden så kommer resten af sig selv.
Så mangler de bare Morten Hjulmand istedet for Fernando der er altfor stor alfahan på det hold.

  5. Clubs be saying thank you Man United for keeping Rasmus in your team, you have made it very clear easy for us. Best of luck and we hope you don’t take too long to come back to the Premier League. We wish you a speedy recovery. And with Onana in goal, we don’t stand a chance.

  6. All United coaches post have spent over 200million pounds on player recruitment except David Moyes. David Moyes – £64.6M, Louis van Gaal- £258.6M, Jose Mourinho – £ 363.8M, Solskjaer – £1.06 B, ten Hag – £407M, Amorim -£215M. So sidhu48, what is merciful about the £200M? And as fans we have complained about the attitude of our players, so what is it about the coach throwing his weight around when he is ruthless about standards at the club? It is not even yet up to a year since he took over to begin to judge him harshly!

  7. It doesn’t matter who united sign up front if there is no service.

Holland & zirkzee would need to do a giggs from the halfway line to get on the scoresheet.

We’ve just spent 70m on another, young, unproven non-premiership striker.

There’s no point being in the box if no one ever puts in a cross.

  8. Yes I can’t believe he hasn’t just gone a bought a keeper, such an important position. Vital we have someone worldclass in the net. Vital!!!

  9. Reintegration the players is not an issue but conditions must be attached. Their wages should be slashed and must meet the coach demands and benchmark.

  10. When A Person Desires To Be Given The Chance To Justify His Inclusion And Hence His Performance, And He Is Giving The Opportunity, They Mostly Become Assets And Not Liability.
With The New Environment, He Will Surely Improve As Balls Will Be Supplied To Him.
Also The Manager Must VARY The Style As And When Necessary. Any Good Manager Can Outplay You If You Only Stick To One Style Of Play.
Give Chance To All Potential Players And They Will Give In Their Best To Help The Team Win Laurels.
