Napoli have reportedly enquired about Manchester United strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, but Ruben Amorim has adopted two contrasting stances.

The Italian champions have been dealt a massive blow, as their star centre-forward, Romelu Lukaku, has been ruled out with injury for at least three months just before the start of the season. Therefore, reliable sources in the Italian media revealed that Napoli were offered the services of Hojlund.

The Danish player has been tipped to return to Serie A since the start of the summer, as he’s been linked with almost every top club in Italy. Milan appeared to be his most likely destination, but the talks between the two clubs have seemingly stalled in recent days, as they haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

Man United ask about Rasmus Hojlund

On Monday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano shed some light on the situation, confirming direct contact between Napoli and Man Utd, as the Italians are hustling to find a new striker who can replace Lukaku. Apparently, the call between the two clubs centred around Hojlund.

The Serie A champions requested information regarding a potential loan for the Denmark international.

In recent hours, reports in Italy also claimed that the Premier League giants are interested in Zirkzee, with Conte being a keen admirer of the player.

Nevertheless, Romano insists that the Dutchman wasn’t part of the conversation, as Ruben Amorim had made it clear that the former Bologna man is a key member of his squad.

This will be music to the ears of the Old Trafford faithful who grew incredibly fond of Zirkzee, despite a shaky start to the campaign.

The 24-year-old might be an unconventional striker, since he enjoys roaming around rather than residing in or around the opposition’s penalty box. Nevertheless, his incredible work rate and elegant touch won him the adoration of the Red Army.

Zirkzee missed the opening-day defeat to Arsenal as he remains sidelined with an injury, but he’s expected to rejoin the fold in the coming days.

  1. Amorim is a complete joke then, because Zirkzee is much worse than Hojlund will EVER be, Zirkzee should go, Hojlund should stay, Hojlund has pace, Zirkzee doesn’t, sick of the way United are screwing Hojlund over, seriously getting annoyed with United & their ideas, Zirkzee will NEVER be a goal threat like Hojlund, Zirkzee hasn’t played a single minute of football yet this season yet he is being treated better than Hojlund, I see NOTHING special about Zirkzee what’s so ever, but I do Hojlund, even some famous ex players have said this would be a bad mistake to get rid of Hojlund, time Amorim started listening.

  2. Defenders are quicker than Hojlund, he can’t control the ball, stands in one place in the penalty box if he manages to get there and half the time doesn’t read the game or even look in the direction the ball is coming from. Really isn’t a big loss. Hope he improves in Italy because the premier league is to physical and fast for him.
